The Prowers County Fair in Lamar celebrates the "Dove Hunting Capital of the Nation" — Prowers County's grain fields and the Arkansas River wetlands attract extraordinary numbers of mourning doves each fall, making Lamar one of the most significant hunting destinations on the Southern Plains, and the county's cattle, wheat, and corn production come together at a well-organized southeastern Colorado fair.
