The Biggest Fairs in the Mountain West

Colorado's official state fair has run in Pueblo since 1869, one of the oldest state fairs in the West. It drew 428,941 visitors in 2025, a dip from 493,234 the year before due to bad weather — but per the fair's own historical attendance records, it's topped 400,000 visitors in nearly every year going back to the mid-2000s.

Held each August at MetraPark in Billings, MontanaFair drew an estimated 204,600 visitors in 2024 — an increase of about 6% from 2023. Running since 1916, it's Montana's largest fair by attendance.

Missoula's Western Montana Fair set an attendance record of 150,000 in 2023, a 33% jump from the year before, according to a City of Missoula report. Running since 1879, it's one of the state's oldest fairs.

Wyoming's largest fair drew about 140,000 visitors in 2025, up slightly from roughly 135,000 in 2024, according to Visit Casper's official economic-impact figures. It's the only Wyoming fair with a verified attendance figure that holds up to scrutiny.

The Northwest Montana Fair & Rodeo set an attendance record of 82,424 people over five days in 2022 at the Flathead County Fairgrounds in Kalispell. Running since 1902, it draws crowds from across the Flathead Valley.

Montana's official state fair, held each summer in Great Falls since 1931, drew 72,718 visitors in 2024, per official Montana ExpoPark and Cascade County gate-attendance figures — down slightly from 76,055 the year before.

Ogden's Weber County Fair drew 49,000 visitors in 2019, according to the Standard-Examiner — down from a peak of 58,730 in 2013 but up from 46,278 in 2017. Held annually at the Golden Spike Event Center.

Bozeman's Big Sky Country State Fair drew 46,513 visitors in 2023, a 15% increase from the year before and just short of its 2021 record. Running since 1903, it's held each summer at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds.

The Washington County Fair drew an estimated 40,000-50,000 visitors in 2017, according to a Standard-Examiner report citing Utah Association of Fairs and Events data. Running since 1860, it's one of the state's oldest fairs.

Held each July in the small town of Calhan east of Colorado Springs, the El Paso County Fair marked its 120th anniversary in 2025 with a record 31,000 visitors, per KOAA News — the county's largest annual event despite its rural, rather than suburban, home.

Nearly 30,000 people attended the Utah County Fair in 2007, up from 22,500 in 2006 and 28,000 in 2005, according to the Daily Herald — the most recent reported figures available, per the fair's own official history.
