The Oldest Fairs in Washington

Held annually in Monroe, the Evergreen State Fair is one of Washington's premier agricultural fairs, running eleven days in late August through Labor Day weekend at the Snohomish County Fairgrounds. It's been held since 1874, one of Washington's most enduring county fair traditions. With its large animal barns, championship livestock competitions, and proximity to the Seattle metro area, it draws some of the largest crowds of any fair in the state.

The Spokane County Interstate Fair — the Interstate Fair — is the major annual fair for the Spokane metro area and inland Northwest, running ten days in mid-September at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center. The fair got its start in 1886 and has remained a Washington agricultural mainstay ever since. It draws visitors from across eastern Washington, northern Idaho, and western Montana.

The Central Washington State Fair in Yakima — the State Fair Park — is a ten-day September-into-October fair and one of the longest-running fairs in the Pacific Northwest. First held in 1892, it's carried on as a Washington agricultural tradition for well over a hundred years. Serving the Yakima Valley, Washington's agricultural heartland, it celebrates the apples, hops, wine grapes, and livestock that make this region one of the most productive farming areas in the world.

The Washington State Fair, based in Puyallup, — the Puyallup Fair — is the largest fair in Washington State and one of the largest in the nation, drawing over a million visitors each September. It began in 1900 and has stayed a fixture of Washington agricultural life for more than a century. For over a century, 'the Fair' has been a beloved rite of autumn for generations of Pacific Northwest families.
