About Wheatland County Fair

The Wheatland County Fair in Harlowton celebrates a central Montana county at the Judith Basin's edge where the Milwaukee Road's electrified mountain division once climbed the Musselshell River breaks — Harlowton was a major railroad division point, and today the Upper Musselshell Historical Society Museum preserves the heritage of a county where wheat farming and cattle ranching have sustained communities for over a century.

What to Expect

Expect livestock shows, 4-H and FFA competitions, wheat exhibits, local food vendors, and the community spirit of a central Montana agricultural county with strong railroad heritage.

Visitor Tips

Harlowton's Milwaukee Road Museum honors the pioneering electric railroad that once crossed Montana. Deadman's Basin Reservoir provides fishing and recreation. The surrounding wheat country's golden harvest landscapes are spectacular in late July and August, and the Crazy Mountains' southern peaks are visible to the northwest.
