About Blue Hill Fair
The Blue Hill Fair is one of Maine's most beloved and authentic agricultural fairs, held over Labor Day Weekend at the Blue Hill Fairgrounds in coastal Hancock County. This fair is nationally famous as the real-life inspiration for E.B. White's children's classic "Charlotte's Web" — the author lived nearby and based his beloved story on this very fair.
What to Expect
Championship livestock competitions, ox and horse pulls, harness racing, carnival rides, agricultural and craft exhibits, live entertainment, and traditional Maine fair food in a spectacular coastal Maine setting. The authentic country character of this fair makes it one of the most genuine agricultural fair experiences in New England.
Visitor Tips
Blue Hill is on a scenic peninsula in Hancock County, about 20 miles south of Ellsworth. The fairgrounds are at 233 Ellsworth Road. As the inspiration for Charlotte's Web, this fair has special resonance for families with children. Plan for traffic on Route 172 during the fair — arrive early.
