A Closer Look
The Cajun Heartland State Fair transforms the Cajundome & Convention Center in Lafayette into south Louisiana's premier spring carnival experience, running 10 days over Memorial Day weekend and beyond. The fair has been running since 1988, building a following across the surrounding area. Managed by the Cajundome staff, this event serves as the de facto state fair for Acadiana — the Cajun and Creole heartland of south-central Louisiana.
Planning Your Visit
Located at 444 Cajundome Blvd in Lafayette, just off I-10. The 10-day run across Memorial Day weekend provides plenty of opportunities to visit. Lafayette is the cultural capital of Cajun country — combine the fair with a crawfish boil, live zydeco music, and a visit to the Acadian Village nearby.
Fair Highlights
Carnival midway with dozens of rides, live entertainment across multiple stages, fair food with a heavy Cajun influence, games, and commercial vendors. The indoor Cajundome setting keeps portions of the fair comfortable even in Louisiana's warm spring weather.
