About St. Mary Parish Fair
The St. Mary Parish Fair in Franklin celebrates a bayou country parish where the Atchafalaya Basin meets the Gulf of Mexico sugar cane coast, and where the Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana maintains their reservation in Charenton — the only tribe federally recognized in Louisiana with land in the state.
What to Expect
Expect livestock shows, 4-H and FFA competitions, sugar cane exhibits, local seafood and Cajun food vendors, and a fair drawing from the Franklin community and the bayou parishes.
Visitor Tips
The Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana Charenton reservation is the only tribe with land in the state. Bayou Teche runs through Franklin providing the distinctive cypress bayou landscape of south Louisiana. The Atchafalaya Basin approach through Charenton reveals the world largest river swamp.
