About Montezuma County Fair
The Montezuma County Fair in Cortez celebrates the Four Corners' Ancestral Puebloan heartland — Mesa Verde National Park and the surrounding canyon country contain the highest concentration of ancient Pueblo ruins in North America, and the county's cattle ranching, pinto bean farming, and Ute Mountain Ute Nation's tribal homeland define a county of extraordinary archaeological and cultural richness.
What to Expect
Expect livestock shows, 4-H and FFA competitions, pinto bean and cattle exhibits, Native American cultural exhibits, local food vendors, and a fair drawing from the greater Cortez area.
Visitor Tips
Mesa Verde National Park's Cliff Palace and Spruce Tree House cliff dwellings are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Ute Mountain Ute Tribe's reservation borders the park on the south. Cortez's Museum of Southwest Studies and the Crow Canyon Archaeological Center provide world-class Ancestral Puebloan education.
