The Oldest Fairs in Oklahoma

Every year, Stillwater hosts the Payne County Free Fair, which is an August fair at home to Oklahoma State University, celebrating the agricultural and academic heritage of a county where land-grant agricultural research and the cattle, wheat, and diversified farming of the rolling Cross Timbers country have long coexisted.

The Tulsa State Fair at Expo Square is Oklahoma's second great state fair, an eleven-day late-September celebration in the "Oil Capital of the World" that draws hundreds of thousands of visitors from across the Green Country region of northeast Oklahoma and neighboring states. It began in 1903 and has stayed a fixture of Oklahoma agricultural life for more than a century.

The State Fair of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City is one of the premier state fairs in America and a defining event in Oklahoma's cultural calendar, held annually since statehood in 1907 at the State Fair Park with a world-class eleven-day celebration of Oklahoma's agricultural heritage, Native American culture, and the spirit of the Sooner State. Since its 1907 founding, it's endured as a century-plus Oklahoma agricultural tradition.
