About Cherokee County Fair
Held each September in Rusk, Cherokee County Fair celebrates the timber, poultry, cattle, and tomato farming heritage of a county anchored by the Texas State Railroad — one of the only remaining steam railroads operated as a state park.
What to Expect
Expect livestock shows, FFA and 4-H competitions, carnival rides, local food vendors featuring Cherokee County tomatoes, and a community fair in the rolling pine and hardwood hills of Deep East Texas.
Visitor Tips
Rusk is home to the Texas State Railroad — a vintage steam train that runs between Rusk and Palestine through the Piney Woods, one of the most unique scenic railroad experiences in the South. Palestine, the other end of the line, has its own rich history worth exploring.
