About Lawrence County Fair

The Lawrence County Fair in Deadwood celebrates the Black Hills gold rush city where Wild Bill Hickok was shot and Calamity Jane roamed — Deadwood National Historic Landmark preserves the Wild West heritage, and the county Homestake Mine in Lead was the largest gold mine in the Western Hemisphere.

What to Expect

Expect livestock shows, 4-H and FFA competitions, rodeo events, mining heritage exhibits, local food vendors, and a fair drawing from the Deadwood-Lead area and the surrounding Black Hills ranching community.

Visitor Tips

Deadwood Mount Moriah Cemetery holds the graves of Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane. The Homestake Mine in Lead is being converted to the Sanford Underground Research Facility for deep physics experiments. Deadwood gaming revenue funds historic preservation.
