The Lawrence County Fair in Deadwood celebrates the Black Hills gold rush city where Wild Bill Hickok was shot and Calamity Jane roamed — Deadwood National Historic Landmark preserves the Wild West heritage, and the county Homestake Mine in Lead was the largest gold mine in the Western Hemisphere.
