The Vance County Fair in Henderson — not to be confused with Henderson County in the mountains — celebrates a Roanoke River Piedmont county where tobacco farming has historically dominated and where Kerr Lake (Buggs Island Lake) provides some of Virginia and North Carolina's best fishing in one of the largest reservoirs in the eastern United States.
