About Union County Fair
The Union County Fair in New Albany is a July fair in the rolling hills of north Mississippi, celebrating the cotton, timber, and literary heritage of a county that was the birthplace of William Faulkner — Nobel Prize-winning author and one of the most important writers in American literature, born here in 1897.
What to Expect
Expect livestock shows, FFA and 4-H competitions, carnival rides, local food vendors, and a fair in the red clay and oak hills of the Tallahatchie River watershed.
Visitor Tips
New Albany was William Faulkner's actual birthplace — the William Faulkner Birthplace site and the Union County Heritage Museum preserve the heritage of this north Mississippi hill country. Oxford (home of Faulkner's famous Rowan Oak estate) is just to the west in Lafayette County.
