About Renville County Fair

The Renville County Fair is held each August in Bird Island, a small town platted in 1878 and named for a nearby island bird sanctuary that was later drained and converted to farmland. Renville County is one of Minnesota's top corn-producing counties, with soybean and sugar beet farming along the Minnesota River valley.

What to Expect

Expect livestock shows, 4-H and FFA competitions, major corn and sugar beet exhibits, local food vendors, and a fair drawing from the Bird Island community and greater Renville County.

Visitor Tips

Renville County consistently leads Minnesota in corn production, and the fairgrounds sit along the Minnesota River valley, which provides excellent farmland and good fishing. Olivia, the county seat about 10 miles east, is home to the well-known giant corn water tower, one of Minnesota's beloved roadside oddities, if you want to make a stop nearby.
