About Natchitoches Parish Fair

The Natchitoches Parish Fair in Natchitoches celebrates the oldest permanent European settlement in the Louisiana Purchase territory — Natchitoches was founded in 1714, predating New Orleans, and the city Historic District, Cane River Creole culture, and the Steel Magnolias filming location define one of Louisiana most charming small cities.

What to Expect

Expect livestock shows, 4-H and FFA competitions, local food vendors with meat pies and Creole cooking, and a fair drawing from the Natchitoches community and surrounding Cane River valley.

Visitor Tips

Natchitoches Historic District Front Street brick buildings and the Christmas Festival of Lights are among Louisiana most beloved traditions. Melrose Plantation and Oakland Plantation on the Cane River preserve extraordinary Creole plantation heritage. Steel Magnolias was filmed here in 1988.
