Natchitoches Historic District Front Street brick buildings and the Christmas Festival of Lights are among Louisiana most beloved traditions. Melrose Plantation and Oakland Plantation on the Cane River preserve extraordinary Creole plantation heritage. Steel Magnolias was filmed here in 1988.
