About Northwest Alabama Fair
Held each August in Jasper, Walker County Fair celebrates the coal, timber, and cattle heritage of a county that was one of the most important coal-producing counties in America during the Industrial Revolution and whose mining traditions shaped the culture of this rugged hill country community.
What to Expect
Expect livestock shows, FFA and 4-H competitions, carnival rides, live entertainment, local food vendors, and a fair serving the coal mining and agricultural communities of Walker County.
Visitor Tips
Jasper is the Walker County seat — the coal mining heritage of the Cahaba coalfield (the southern portion of the Appalachian coal basin that made Birmingham's iron and steel industry possible) and the Lewis Smith Lake recreational area to the northwest define the industrial and natural landscape of Walker County.
