The Oldest Fairs in Kentucky

The Kentucky State Fair in Louisville is one of the nation's premier state fairs and the flagship celebration of Kentucky agriculture and culture. First held in 1902, it has been a Kentucky agricultural tradition for over a century. Held at the Kentucky Exposition Center since the early 20th century, this world-class 11-day event attracts more than 600,000 visitors and showcases everything from champion livestock to major entertainment acts.

The Western Kentucky State Fair in Hopkinsville is the premier agricultural fair of western Kentucky, celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2026. Established in 1951, the fair has brought Kentucky communities together for generations. Held each late June through Independence Day week at the fairgrounds on Richard Street, this nine-day fair serves the communities of the Pennyroyal region and draws visitors from across the western end of the state.

The NIBROC Festival — Corbin spelled backward — is Corbin, Kentucky's signature annual community celebration, running as a tradition since 1952. Held each August, it draws visitors from across the Whitley/Knox county line with a parade, carnival rides, free live entertainment, and food, craft, and commercial vendors, backed by sponsors including Baptist Health and the Forcht Group.
