The Biggest Fairs in California

Southern California's biggest summer event, the OC Fair runs 23 days in July and August at the OC Fair & Event Center. In 2024, it sold out 9 of its 23 days at a daily cap of 50,000 — a sign of demand that far outstrips capacity.

The largest county fair in California by attendance, the San Diego County Fair runs 26 days in June and July at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, perched above the Pacific Ocean. It's been running since 1880 and draws visitors from across the San Diego region and beyond.

One of the largest county fairs in the United States, the LA County Fair runs 25 days at the Fairplex in Pomona. Since moving to May dates in 2022, it has consistently attracted nearly 800,000 visitors and is a major showcase for Southern California agriculture and entertainment.

Running since 1854, the California State Fair is held each July at Cal Expo in Sacramento. The 2024 edition saw attendance climb despite extreme heat — driven by expanded programming, free admission nights, and a growing food and entertainment lineup.
