About Giles County Fair

The Giles County Fair in Pearisburg celebrates a New River gorge county in southwest Virginia where some of the East's most dramatic river scenery surrounds mountain farming communities — the New River, one of the oldest rivers in North America, cuts through Giles County in a series of wild gorges popular with paddlers and hikers.

Visitor Tips

Pearisburg overlooks the dramatic New River gorge. Mountain Lake (one of only two natural freshwater lakes in Virginia) — used as a filming location for the movie Dirty Dancing — is in adjacent Giles County. The Appalachian Trail passes through nearby, and Cascade Falls is one of Virginia's most spectacular waterfalls.
