About Zavala County Fair
Held each September in Crystal City, Zavala County Fair celebrates the spinach farming heritage of a county that was once the "Spinach Capital of the World" and erected a statue of Popeye to prove it.
What to Expect
Expect livestock shows, FFA and 4-H competitions, carnival rides, local food vendors, and a community fair in the irrigated Winter Garden Region of Southwest Texas.
Visitor Tips
Crystal City is famous for its Popeye statue and spinach heritage — the Winter Garden Region's irrigated farms produce spinach, onions, and other vegetables in the semi-arid brush country, and the nearby Kickapoo Cavern State Park and Amistad National Recreation Area are worthwhile Southwest Texas destinations.
