About Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show

The Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show in Mercedes is a ten-day March celebration at the heart of the Lower Rio Grande Valley, one of the most important agricultural fairs in South Texas celebrating the unique subtropical farming heritage of a region that produces citrus, vegetables, and livestock year-round. Since 1932, it's brought Texas neighbors together year after year.

What to Expect

Expect livestock shows, FFA and 4-H competitions, carnival rides, PRCA rodeo events, and a fair atmosphere that reflects the vibrant bicultural character of the Rio Grande Valley and its farming communities stretching from McAllen to Brownsville.

Visitor Tips

Mercedes sits in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley citrus belt — the Historic Hidalgo Pumphouse World Birding Center, the Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge (one of the top birding destinations in North America), and the South Padre Island coast are all within easy reach.
