The Gonzales County Fair in Gonzales is an October fair celebrating the "Come and Take It" spirit of the first shot fired in the Texas Revolution on October 2, 1835, when Gonzales citizens refused to surrender their cannon to Mexican authorities and launched the Texas War for Independence.
