The Oglala Lakota County Fair in Pine Ridge celebrates the homeland of the Oglala Sioux Tribe on the Pine Ridge Reservation — the county was renamed from Shannon County to Oglala Lakota County in 2015 honoring the Lakota people, and the community cultural traditions, the Badlands approach, and the legacy of the 1890 Wounded Knee Massacre define a county of profound historical significance.
