About Avery County Fair
The Avery County Fair in Newland celebrates North Carolina's highest county — Avery contains the Black Mountains including Mount Mitchell (6,684 feet, the highest peak east of the Mississippi), Grandfather Mountain, and the Roan Highlands, where Christmas tree farms and rhododendron fields define the landscape above 4,000 feet.
