The Fair
Every year, Alton hosts the Oregon County Fair, which celebrates Missouri's southernmost county bordering Arkansas, where the Eleven Point River — one of only eight rivers designated Wild and Scenic in the Midwest — flows through one of the state's most remote and beautiful Ozark counties, and where small cattle and farm operations sustain communities far from Missouri's population centers.
