About Clay County Fair

The Clay County Fair in Liberty celebrates a Kansas City-area county with Jesse James connections — Jesse James was born in Kearney in Clay County, and Liberty was the site of the first bank robbery in U.S. history, staged by the James gang in 1866. Today Clay County is a thriving Kansas City suburb with active farming communities in its northern reaches.
