About Clay County Fair
The Clay County Fair in Liberty celebrates a Kansas City-area county with Jesse James connections — Jesse James was born in Kearney in Clay County, and Liberty was the site of the first bank robbery in U.S. history, staged by the James gang in 1866. Today Clay County is a thriving Kansas City suburb with active farming communities in its northern reaches.
What to Expect
Expect livestock shows, 4-H and FFA competitions, carnival rides, live entertainment, local food vendors, and a well-organized fair drawing from one of the Kansas City metro area's most populous suburban counties.
Visitor Tips
Liberty's William Jewell College campus and the Jesse James Bank Museum on the historic downtown square are major attractions. Kearney's Jesse James Farm and Museum tells the story of Missouri's most famous outlaw, and the county's northern reaches maintain significant agricultural operations.
