About Jones County Fair
The Jones County Fair in Laurel is a September fair in the Piney Woods of southeast Mississippi, celebrating the timber, naval stores, and artistic heritage of a county famous as the "Free State of Jones" — whose Union sympathizers under Newton Knight refused to secede from the Union during the Civil War — and as the inspiration for the HGTV series "Home Town."
What to Expect
Expect livestock shows, FFA and 4-H competitions, carnival rides, live entertainment, local food vendors, and a fair in the longleaf pine and hardwood timber country between Hattiesburg and Meridian.
Visitor Tips
Laurel is one of Mississippi's most revitalized small cities — the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art (an outstanding American art collection in a beautiful Beaux-Arts building), the Landrum's Homestead (featured on HGTV's "Home Town"), and the beautiful bungalow neighborhoods being restored by Ben and Erin Napier have given Laurel a national profile.
