Every year, Fairmont hosts the Martin County Fair, which celebrates a southwest Minnesota county famous for its five interconnected lakes within the city limits — Fairmont chain of lakes is unique among Minnesota cities, and the county corn, soybean, and hog production define a prosperous agricultural community near the Iowa border.
