The Indiana State Fair held its first edition in 1852 at Military Park in Indianapolis. It moved to its permanent 38th Street fairgrounds in 1892 and has run nearly every year since, with wartime interruptions in 1861, 1917-18, and a scaled-down run from 1942-44.
