The Central Georgia Fair, organized annually by the Cordele Lions Club at Lions Park, has run for more than 80 years in Cordele — the seat of Crisp County, proudly known as the 'Watermelon Capital of the World,' with the surrounding county's sandy soils producing some of the finest watermelons in the nation alongside the fishing and recreation of Lake Blackshear on the Flint River.
