About Copper River Census Area Fair
The Copper River Census Area Fair in Glennallen celebrates the Copper River basin community where the Ahtna Athabascan people have lived for thousands of years, and where the remarkable Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve — the largest national park in the United States, containing more than nine of the 16 highest peaks in North America — defines the landscape.
What to Expect
Expect a small fair with community exhibits, Ahtna cultural demonstrations, subsistence hunting and fishing heritage displays, local food vendors, and the spirit of a remote Interior Alaska community at the gateway to North America's largest national park.
Visitor Tips
Wrangell-St. Elias National Park is larger than some countries — at 13.2 million acres, it contains glaciers the size of Rhode Island. The Kennecott Mines National Historic Landmark preserves the extraordinary copper mining complex that operated from 1903-1938. The McCarthy Road's 60 miles of gravel connects to the interior.
