About Anchorage Municipality Fair
The Anchorage Municipality Fair celebrates Alaska's largest city — Anchorage contains nearly half of Alaska's population, sits at the head of Cook Inlet where the Alaska and Chugach mountain ranges frame dramatic views from downtown, and the city's extraordinary access to wilderness (moose wander downtown, bears fish Ship Creek within sight of office buildings) defines a uniquely Alaskan urban experience.
What to Expect
Expect livestock shows, 4-H and FFA competitions, Alaska Native cultural exhibits honoring the Dena'ina Athabascan homeland, local food vendors with Alaska seafood and produce, carnival rides, live entertainment, and a well-organized fair drawing from the greater Anchorage population.
Visitor Tips
Anchorage's Tony Knowles Coastal Trail runs 11 miles from downtown to Kincaid Park with spectacular Denali and Cook Inlet views on clear days. The Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center provides world-class Alaska Native art. The Chugach State Park — one of America's largest state parks — begins at the city's eastern edge.
