About DeKalb County Fair
The DeKalb County Fair in Fort Payne is an August fair in the Lookout Mountain country of northeast Alabama, celebrating the poultry, sock manufacturing, and outdoor heritage of the "Sock Capital of the World" — DeKalb County once produced more socks than any other county in America, and its Lookout Mountain plateau and Little River Canyon are among the most spectacular landscapes in the state.
What to Expect
Expect livestock shows, FFA and 4-H competitions, carnival rides, live entertainment, local food vendors, and a fair in the Appalachian foothills of northeast Alabama.
Visitor Tips
Fort Payne is the DeKalb County seat on Lookout Mountain — Little River Canyon National Preserve (a spectacular 12-mile canyon carved through the plateau, one of the deepest canyons east of the Rockies), DeSoto Falls, and the Alabama Fan Club & Museum (celebrating the country music group Alabama, which is from Fort Payne) make DeKalb County a northeast Alabama destination.
