Barbour County Fair Overview
Held annually in Clayton, the Barbour County Fair is a September fair in the Wiregrass country of southeast Alabama, celebrating the peanut, cotton, and political heritage of a county that produced two Alabama governors (George Wallace and James Folsom) and whose county seat of Clayton is one of the most beautifully preserved small towns in southeast Alabama.
Good to Know
Clayton is the Barbour County seat — the George C. Wallace home and the Clio birthplace of Lurleen Wallace (Alabama's first female governor), the beautifully preserved antebellum Barbour County Courthouse, and the surrounding Wiregrass peanut and cotton country define the political and agricultural heritage of this southeast Alabama county.
